    Hey your inbox was full so here's the response to that question about the eccentric portion of exercises and size gains:

    "To be perfectly honest, this is a bit of bro science that I have gathered from speaking with various people I know who are trainers and body builders, and from my own deductions.

    The idea is basically that since, as you noted, you are stronger and more able to produce force on the eccentric motion of an exercise, you can increase your time under tension by lowering a weight slowly, thus increasing the capability for 'sarcoplasmic' hypertrophy.

    I should have phrased my statement differently, noting that time under tension is what produces size and that using the eccentric portion of a lift greatly increases your time under tension.

    Sorry for any confusion, and unfortunately I do not have a source."
