Stretching is mainly for the strength of your muscles, it gives muscle a flexibility, and they are not broken when you go for some heavy workouts.
I agree with Odin, it is best to warm up prior to doing your exercise regimen to prevent body pain.

Stretching exercises should help in decompression and easing back pain. People experiencing the pain should try bending over to stretch their back, as well as their thighs, legs and feet.

These stretches are great for anyone who has had ACL Surgery :-)The list given above "basic" stretching exercises, stretches are normally performed on the "working muscles". The hip flexors are only involved when lifting the leg, they get plenty of stretches when performing lower ab work, as there is 640 muscles in the human body, it would take weeks to stretch every muscle......!!
Hip Flexor stretch.
Lunge forward with knee on padded mat. Position foot beyond forward knee. Place hands on knee.
Straighten hip of rear leg by pushing hips forward. Hold stretch. Repeat with opposite side.

Yeah bro anything to get the blood moving and warm up the muscles before you go stretching them is cool. It doesn't have to be a piece of equipment. It's the same principle as you don't start off lifting at or near your max, you start off light and warm up first so you don't tear something up.
Yep, I second Yoga for flexbility. There are certain poses that will be very difficult if you are large and generally tight due to weight lifting, but there are some great stretches for the shoulders and upper back that feel fantastic. Diet also plays a role in everything, including suppleness of the muscles, just something to take into consideration![]()
Hi guys?
The straight forward answer of 'you grow at your own pace' is true.I'm 13 and 5 foot 8 tall, pretty short. (sarcasm)
I was wondering if there are any stretching exercises to boost my growth or whatever, don't give me the "you grow at your own pace" answer, that's not what I'm asking for. I need a straight forward answer...
What stretching exercises are there?
No amount of stretching will influence your genetics determined height.
Consistency is the key
I will try these out tomorrow. Thanks!
The best advice I have is to keep it simple and ease back into it, remembering that your body will need some time to build back some strength and endurance.* Be kind to yourself!* You're getting back on track and that's enough for now.
This is really good! Couple of stretching before doing some workouts. yay! Abdominal stretch (i like)![]()
Very informative but I have a question. This exercises will help me keep fit and fab.

stretching with weight! not so heavy though
I love to do stretching exercies.
stay healthy and be happy.
not possible every day
Exercise is good, and so is actually stretching before, or like a method to gain more range of motion, but to expect that possibly of these will dramatically cause you to taller is NOT realistic. See your local gym or YMCA, and get them the same question, and you'll get the same answer.
Be pleased with you as you are, and stay wholesome, even if it means talking to a counselor regarding your self-esteem. That may be the part of a person that needs attention, no disrespect meant, only an outside opinion.
Last Night i was surfing on internet and i found this http://www.medstorerx.com/fitness/st...-mobility.aspx . It gives information about stretching exercises. Hope this helps you.
Hip Flexor Lunge
Step forward into a lunge far enough so that you have to bend your front leg, but not too far so that you can't touch the ball of your opposite foot to the ground. Sink down into the lunge, feeling the pull on your back quad and calf. With your front leg bent at a 90 degree angle, bend your back knee so that it's hovering just above the ground. Make sure your back stays straight and tall and your hips remain tucked under your body. Hold this pose for 15 to 20 breaths, then release. Repeat with the opposite leg.
Do more excises, be much more healthier. I'm glad to find this useful forum with so many advises here.

Stretching and an active lifestyle are often recommended to help reduce back pain and speed the recovery process following an injury. Improving exibility through stretching is also an excellent way to avoid future injuries.

I start with an hard question.
What's the difference between static stretching, dynamic stretching and ballistic stretching in LONG terms muscle flexibility?
Static and ballistic create a decrease in muscle flexibility and force production in the short terms (less than 30 minutes), while the dynamic stretching enhances all these qualities in the short terms.
I guess that in the long terms the situation changes, but i don't really know the differences if any.
