Great post! Last year I fell from a ladder from about 10 feet up and when I landed I broke the radial head at my elbow and damaged the tissue around my rotator cuff. I did several of the exercises you mentioned above for PT. I actually need to go back and do a little more of these to help my shoulder. I feel the results of the damage a little still when I do heavy lifting- I am just now getting back to where I was before the break.

I injured my shoulder which I can only presume would be the roto cuff. I was doing upper chest with heavy dumbbells and dropped one to the floor to fast whilst twisting my shoulder. The pain was pretty intense when I tried putting pressure on it. It affected my bench pressing, shoulder work and using the preacher bench. The joint where my shoulder met my traps at the top was painful and it seemed to cause a problem when pressure was applied to my collar bone and upper chest when I was lent against the preacher support pad. This happened months ago and I still get the odd pain which can effect my lifting and cause my arm to feel weak. It's much better than it was though.

    Hi, great post.

I've got a slight issue with my right rotator cuff, been feeling a little pain in it recently during training so I need to add in some of these strengthening exercises.

Just a quick question as to where I would fit them in, as I currently do a full body workout.

The main focus of my workout goes squats, bent over rows, shoulder press, bench press.

Would it be advisable to do the rotator exercises before everything, or just before I do the shoulder press do you think?

I have a question about this, since as a very weak person and a person who's injured themselves before I definitely want to include these exercises! Pretty much the same question as the last post actually, but since there was no response I figured I'd ask again.

Can/should I do these 3 times per week before all my upper body exercises? It seems to me (as a newb) that all 3 days I do upper body push my shoulders fairly well, not just shoulder day.

I'm thinking that I don't need the same full week recovery time as it's such light weights?

Important small muscles that surround the shoulder joint are called the rotator cuff muscles. They are the key muscles that keep the joint working properly. Weakness in any of the four muscles can cause instability, which can lead to various injuries.

Exercises that build up the shoulder and the rotator cuff muscles can be done at home, work or the gym.

An integrally part of any shoulder workout the muscles of the rotatory cuff,Having come from a genre of fitness that was focused in the expression of strength in all the wrong ways, I fell into the the latter category believing my shoulders received adequate attention from the volume of work I was doing in other areas such as the bench press and the thousands of push ups I was doing…among other things.
