Default Mark Forum, Sub-forum as Read

Does anyone else have to manually select "Mark Forum Read" from the "Forum Tools" dropdown menu for each forum to show up as "read," even when all the threads have been read and even show marked as having been read? Fpr example, all the threads have been demoted to lighter blue/debolded in a given sub-forum, yet the top level forum still shows them as unread within their respective sub-forum until I go back into the sub-forum and select "Mark Forum as Read" from the dropdown?

I'm using Firefox 3 and verified that cookies are functioning properly. Just curious. It's getting a little tiresome continually having to click back into each forum and then select "Mark Forum as Read" each time I read the last new thread in each forum. Hope that made sense to someone.

Yes, but the threads remain "new" even after being read... same issue. Over time, they will expire, but they are not being marked as read when I read them. To remove them from the list of new posts, I have to enter their sub-forum and select "mark forum read." I'm thinking this is just me or some messed up vBulletin/Mozilla issue, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something in Options or something.

Happening in IE7, too. Not a big deal, Damien; just wanted to make sure I wasn't screwing something up. Call me paranoid, but that don't mean people aren't following me. ;-)

No, they are unbolded, but they remain and in their proper chronological order.

Yeah that's just how the software is. If you stay logged in, they will remain in the list unbolded, and be rebolded if someone posts in them while you're online. If you logout or go inactive for a period of 30mins they will be reset

The only problem with this fix is that then ALL messages will initially appear as new once fixed.

Yeah, the problem with that option is that there might be say...100 new posts. I might want to only read 10 of them, but the other threads will be marked as unread every time I login until read them or the read limit is set. And that way is also very processor intensive, so the performance of the forum could go down as a result depending on the amount of active users. I know a lot of other boards were forced to go back to the cookie based method (the one that's being used now) becuase of performance issues
