Question Use of both 108" & 180" hand wraps?

I've noticed on a few sites and in a few videos, people are using both 108" and Mexican 180" warps for boxing and kickboxing. I've seen then used in different combinations, they use the 108" to warp just the knuckles and then do a normal Mexican wrap over. Another common one is to just do a normal Mexican wrap and then cover with the 108", wrist heavy or knuckle heavy. Does anybody do this or have you head of this?

I tried this today and if you do it wrong after about 5-10 minutes of punching your hands will start to go numb. I've also seen gel knuckles that fit under you 180" warps, should I use them or are they trash?

The 108's are for little baby hands. Use the big ones son.

Usually only done with fighters who have damaged their hands prior, like repeated broken hand bones.

    I see, thanks.

What about the gel knuckle under guards, do you or your students use them?

Those gel wraps arnt very good in my opinion yeh you get a e load of protection for the knuckle but no so much for the wrist and for the price difference i think id rather spend the 5 minutes wrapping my hands properly before training gets me in the mood and make me feel ready knowing that my hands are going to be safe

One of the fairly good boxers that I used to hang around with actually wrapped his hands and then wore winter gloves over the wraps and then of course the gloves. Not sure if it provide a great deal of extra cushion, but always interesting.

You know it, we had to beg him to switch them out. It was just greater incentive not to get caught with a punch for fear of the stench leaching through.
