Lightbulb Why Train Legs? Part 2

Squats not only target the glutes, hams, quads, back...but your abs will get cooked up too! And I see everybody wants a 6 pack! The core (which includes abs) is stabilizing you throughout the entire set...Try doing an intense set of squats and then immediately follow with abs to test this truth...bet you can't do as much abs!

Also, squats indirectly involve the upper body. You perform isometric strength training when you hold the barbell... For example- I have well developed traps due to- not shrugs- but SQUATS!!

There are more advantages discussed elsewhere, I'm sure...but this is one I love!!

Technically, your core and abs really aren't the same thing, and to be fair squatting doesn't hit abs as much as you make it out to do. Squatting does improve core strength, but that's really more transverse abdominals than abs. -EK
Donít chase the 1%, there is no magic training routine or diet thatís going to provide any measurable results over the basic principles for getting huge and strong: Train heavy, eat and sleep more.

    look at my album "Victor"
    he is my guru
he had a ridiculous 6 pack without doing abs at all...
    just sayin.
i know core and abs are diift. i have medical training and know every superficial muscle and it's origin and insertion lol-- but I agree- "ripped" is extreme- i probably didnt write this very well...shall i just remove it?
i know you know your stuff better than me..

This is so true, especially more so with the modern lifstyle: 6 pack of coke; 6 pack of beer; 6 pack of... J/K

I've made some right bloopers on here, and felt stupid, but it all works out in the end because someone else will feel the same way or want to bring uo the same subject...you sound like you're feeling a bit down actually at the moment...

Victor is definatly in good shape.. But I dont find his physique is overly impressive.. He is just really lean and has some muscles.

And yes.. Anybody can have a 6 pack without training abs, its all about getting your body fat low enough.

I disagree that anybody can have a six pack with low enough body fat. Lean muscle mass is a must.

i guess it depends on how well defined the rectus sheath is by the fibrous linea alba and transverse fibrous tissues...not mass in the sense of a lot, but in actually there being enough muscle to appear delineated LOL...

Hey, back to squats... and what inspires 'me' to give it all I got (to a w/o I hate soooo much)

    The test fairy.

After an intense leg work out the test fairy will come to my house while I'm sleeping that night, and if I hadn been drinking alcohol, he (or she, I dunno) gives me a shot of testosterone and all my muscles grow a tad right then n there. True story

When it's all over said and done, you're gonna regret the things you 'didn't do', more than the things you did.
