    Default zstadt's log

So, I've been inspired. Yesterday marked the first day of the last leg of Dave's V.I.F. program for me (the Frequency phase, consisting of full body workouts 3x per week), so I figure now's a decent time to start a log.

I'm open to any suggestions, questions, criticism (be nice though ).

    I am:
    21 years old
a college student (Music Education major)
    just about 6' tall
I've always been the skinny kid
I started training last summer, at 144 lbs, and have since gained about 25 lb; aiming for 30 total after this bulk

    Current Supplementation:
    Morning - Multivitamin / Vit. C / Glucosamine Chondroitin
Pre-Workout - 3g Creatine Mono, in 8 oz. of Powerade
Post-Workout - 3g Creatine Mono / 44g MGN Premium Blend Whey, in water

    Enjoy!

Tried the Gatorade thing after Post-Workout for the simple carbs to aid in recovery - any opinions on this?? Maybe it's the placebo effect, or the fact that I actually stretched last night, but I feel good today.

So, I was home for the last week for Spring Break, where I have dial-up internet... needless to say, I couldn't update the log then, but I'll see what I can do with it soon.

I'm going to forgo trying to remember every detail about my workouts this past week; there was nothing really spectacular.

Will continue my log with tomorrow's workout. Stay tuned.

I did go for a run, of decent length (2ish miles) with my dog at the beach, and the knee felt fine and still does. Good sign! Can't wait to get back to racing in a few months.

Slightly disappointed this morning... today's dry weight is 167.4 lbs (as opposed to 169.2 10 days ago, before I left school on spring break).

During my time at home, my diet got a bit screwed up, which is strange because usually people find it harder to eat well at college...

Oh well. Can't do anything about it now; just have to keep on keeping on. Oatmeal, here I come!

    Thanks for reading

I was psyched for my workout today (FINALLY got some new tunes on my iPod - The Prodigy ftw!), but felt like puking the entire time. Remind me to never eat vegan manicotti again... because it was either that or the raspberry vinaigrette on my salad that did me in

Number-wise, today's workout was fair, but it felt pretty good
Took it easy on legs and upper back because of yesterday's run and Monday's workout.

haha yeah! Slowing getting back to where I was before I tore my meniscus... during the run yesterday, I was saying to myself, "I'm not going fast at all", and once I finished I looked at the clock (23:56) and thought it couldn't have been more than 2.5 miles. But, it ended up being 3 Needless to say, I was a happy camper.

haha thats always a good feeling... when you can run at a fast pace and have it feel like you're goin slow that means you're gettin in good running shape

    Sure is!

Except that my knee hurts a bit today...
So, I took some more glucosamine chondroitin and ibuprofen, which will hopefully help

    Unhappy

So, I had the most curious thing happen today. Normally, I wake up every day, go to the bathroom, and weigh myself. For the past two days, I've been at 169.4. So, this morning I was expecting to be right around there, or even above. But, I step on the scale, and it says 166.8.

Gains have been pretty consistent up until now, so needless to say, I'm a bit confused. How could this be possible? The only differences about yesterday (being a rest day) were that I started using a new multivitamin, I took an extra glucosamine/chondroitin for my knee, and one of my meals was a calzone and a beer with a friend. I'm pretty sure a near-3 pound drop in weight couldn't have been caused by these things.

Maybe the batteries in my scale are dying?

    Any ideas???

I do have a plan though; today after I work out, I'll weigh myself on the scale at the gym, come back and check the numbers on my scale. I honestly don't know what else to do (apart from getting new batteries).

    Comments:
Despite this morning's weight debacle, today's workout was AWESOME. I was completely focused, put up some good numbers, and got such a good pump (and, as a bonus, turned a few heads of the opposite sex ).
This is what a workout should to be like

P.S. hopefully watching UFC 111 tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!!

    Batteries dying? No.

The drop in weight is the reason we only weigh once a week at the same time; even though it was the day before, it still works out to be the overall drop in weight throughout the week.

i.e. : I weighed myself mid-week, once, to find out exactly what you have above, I was 4 lbs up on my weekly weigh-in figure, but 3 days later I was 2 lbs down on my weekly weigh-in figure (of the previous Sunday). So, I'd lost 2 lbs throughout the week, even though if I'd taken the mid-week figure it would have looked as though I'd dropped 6 lbs from mid-week.
    I hope that makes sense.
