    Default Shoulders

For some reason I'm not getting anywhere with my shoulders. Any tips? I do the workout with adequate weight but I don't feel anything the next day.

Also, what's a good creatine supplement. I was looking at the ones on this site and I'm not sure which to choose.

Soreness or the post workout feeling has nothing to do with shoulder progression/development.

Are you progressing with weights at all?
What does your shoulder workout look like?

Creatine monohydrate is a popular choice.

I can't believe what i'm hearing. Shoulder's don't get sore?!? You guys/(gals?) need to go swimming. I promise you that afterward, you'll be saying "wow, i have coconut shoulders". I've noticed that swimming has definitally helped develop my entire shoulders and back, especially my lats and rear delts. I strongly suggest it as cardio.

Swimming is good, as is motocross riding to get them sore and slowly build the 3 main shoulder muscle groups and triceps. I guarantee after a short while on a dirt bike, they'll be hanging off you. If you really want to get your shoulders developed, there is no better workout than the coconut shoulders routine on this site. It is GREAT!

Try slowing the movement right down and really concentrating on technique rather than how much you are lifting....Its how you lift the weight, not how much weight you lift. There are little tweaks you can do to the shoulder exercises that help, for example keep the arm as straight as possible (but not locked) when doing lateral raises, turn your hand towards the top of the movement as if you are pouring a jug so that the pinkies are towrads the ceiling, make sure your hand never comes above the height of your elbow when doing them so as to really concentrate the weight on the medial delt rather than the anterior delt etc etc. The shoulder routine on this site is also a fantastic shock to the shoulders if you want to try to ignite growth as well.

If you have 'just started' as it says in your profile mate then i would concentrate more on your workout and diet than worrying about creatine at the minute. Use it after you have been training a while and want an extra kick, dont just use it willingnilly, or cos you think it might be a good idea. Also i dont know how old you are but if you are under 18 i wouldnt use it either.

    Forget soreness.

The question you have to ask yourself is, are your shoulders growing? Are they getting bigger and stronger?

I don't know what your routine is, but like every other muscle group big compounds are the winner here. Military presses, dumbbell presses, hammer strength presses etc. Don't worry about front raises etc, focus on big compounds

This is great advice, also upright rows, if done correctly, are great shoulder builders.... only bring the bar up as far as the bottom of your chest, so that your upper arms are parallel with the floor and elbows are at 90 degrees this will help grow your shoulders (any higher than this and the traps take over)

Maybe your traps are overshadowing your efforts to stimulate your shoulders for lifting.
Next time try to isolate your delts while taking minimal help from your traps.
Larry Scott had the same problem until he switched to dumbell presses...

I'll see how much I'm lifting tomorrow. I'll try and increase by 5 pounds. If not I'll try slower movements.
