Default The Reputation System - How It Works

    THE REPUTATION SYSTEM

Reputations are points gained or lost on individual posts within the
discussion forums. Because these are tied to individual posts, they reflect back on the person who made the post, thus giving them a reputation.

Your reputation can have positive and negative changes. Better yet, as a member of Muscle&Strength, you can add to others' reputations. If someone gives you a great answer, you can give them a positive reputation point(s) as a thanks. If someone blasts a thread with off-topic dribble or posts garbage, you can give them a negative reputation. With time, these reputations will help the "star posters" rise and the people who only provide noise to become visible as well.

Reputations are indicated by a small graphic. The more positive your reputation, the more visible the graphic will become. This will be displayed by all your posts and in your profile.

To add to someone's reputation, you will click a small scale graphic () at the bottom left hand corner of each post. It looks like a green plus sign. When you click the cross you will be given the option to approve (add reputation) or disapprove (deduct reputation) the post that the member just made. It also gives you a chance to leave a comment.

Reputations come with rules. You only get a certain number of points each day, so use them only for the best postings and responses. Right now, this is 6 times per day that points can be given.

There is reputation POWER. Power is the number of points you give each time. This starts at 1 point, but increases based on a number of criteria such as posts, tenure, and your own reputation. When you give negative points, they are at half of your power level.

I encourage everyone to start using this system so the people in this forum that help others out and post quality info can stand out as excellent forum contributers.

If you have any questions about reputation, post them here...

I believe you are suppose to first check I dissaprove then check I approve when giving REP to make it positive rep. Otherwise its just neutral rep and there green bars dont go up any.

    can someone confirm this?

    It defaults to "Approve" (rep+)

You can change to dissapprove though if someone posts crap or is ****ing you off!

There's no such thing as neutral rep

I have noticed the same as NBA1341.

I received a 'neutral' rep from Androxen, with the message:

"Your reputation on this post is Even."

    (0 points were given)

    I got a +1 positive rep.

I think I've figured it out. Androxen had 0 rep power when he 'repped' me. You only get a rep power of 1 after somebody has positively repped you at least once.

I just tried + repping one of his recipes, and his rep power immediately changed from 0 to 1. So from now, if he reps someone, his rep will be worth 1 rep point.

At least, this is how i think it works...

Yeah thats pretty much it. But rep power and rep are 2 different things. Rep power is indicated by the number and rep by the green bars.

BTW, you have to have at least 50 posts before you rep "counts". So if you had 20 posts you can give out rep but it isnt worth jack.

    Rep power increases as you...

    Post more
    Recieve rep
Your membership to the forum gets longer

It's not as simple as you get 1 rep point you rep power goes up by 1 though, theres a points system.
