Default now my quads are too big

I've been wearing nothing but shorts for a long time and tried to put on a pair of jeans today and the quads are way too tight! The waist and butt and hips are loose. They are Levi's 505 size 4.

I've always been very narrow thru the hips anyway - strait down from rib cage to hips. Does anyone know of jeans that work?

Or do I stop doing lower body?

I wouldn't stop doing lower body. I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that if you don't want anymore gains to use the same weight you're already doing. So don't increase the weight in other words.

I'm male, but feel your pain.

I've always had disproportionately strong and big quads. Even at my my heaviest, (by that I mean most fat), I had to buy jeans that were two to four inches bigger in the waist than they needed to be just to be able to pull the damn things up my legs.

Regarding better fitting brands... I can't help you there, though an ex of mine used to wear Lee Jeans because she said they had more room in the leg, but that was some time ago.

I would NOT stop doing lower body, but maybe train them more for muscular endurance than size (lighter weight, more reps).

And speak for yourself Bruin, big is subjective of course, but I happen to like "skull crushers"

Don't stop training the way you are, like lycanthrope said, it's a matter of finding a different brand.

Unless shes a body builder, athlete, or fitness model then theres no reason to keep training legs. By doing any other type of training the legs will still continue to grow in size or stay the same size. If she liked her legs the size they are she prolly wouldnt ask guys on a forum what kind of jeans would fit better around her quads.

the size gain seems to coincide with 3 changes I made: focusing more on diet, stopping running and taking creatine.

I decided to stop running since I finally came around to believeing that long hours of slow cardio aren't making me skinny - just hungry for simple carbs. Plus, it got boring and time consuming.

I decided to try creatine just for the heck of it because everyone says it's so great. I do think I've had strength gains, like 2 months ago I was struggling to do 2 pullups, now I can do 3 sets of 6 - neutral grip. And I can now do single leg squats - butt tapping a low box with 10 lb dumbells in my hands - so I guess I should stop doing that?

And I've been really good with diet - for me at least - not that there isn't always room for improvement. I do notice some fat loss in some of those last-to-lose areas.

I've often had a problem with conflicting goals... If I have to pick only 1 goal now, I'd put diet first. And I guess it's easier to diet when workouts are easy.

I have to disagree, it would be as stupid for a female to stop training legs as it would for a male to be given that same advice.

There are ways to train legs without them getting bigger, food intake and weight loads in addition to the actual exercises and reps selected will all make a difference.

@chasing3 - after wearing shorts for months, going into long lengthed legged trousers, of any kind, will feel restrictive for a while; I know, because I've done the same thing; that could be part of the issue, in addition to the varying room given to leg and butt in women's jeans.

I certainly wouldn't stop training legs; go for endurance rep ranges, slightly lighter weights, and running should be okay as well...

I would continue to train legs. Even if you do not want them to grow, I am sure you would like to keep them toned and firm. I would just try another brand or style of jeans..

If you want to keep your legs the way they are, decrease the weight, increase repetitions to keep the nice toned look without them getting huge.

EDIT: Sorry 5kg I didn't realize you said this lol

Not to mention most pants that are made for women are ridiculously tight! So I would have to say just look for a different brand.

Size as 5kg said is mainly affected by diet. If you don't eat above your BMR, you won't gain anymore size.

Consider stopping the creatine. (Flush out some of the water in the muscles, decreasing overall size) You could still see progress without supplementing creaitne.

It seems like you are progressing well with your gains. I am unsure what your goals are. I think as your body transforms you may become very happy with the changes and the fact that your clothes are fitting differently will only enhance as you progress. I am unsure why jeans are a big stumbling stone but their are other pant options out there that may fit the bill and enable you to become less self conscious when out and about.

If it is necessary for you to fit in your own clothing then cycling creatine may be a good option, due to its water retention properties by going off and coming on you may continue to progress through and with less added bulk.

If you want to share you pre-pics to your current or even future pics so we can all see where the problem may be. It could be a flexibility issue or a bulk issue we really do not know. It could also continue to motivate you as well as other members of the forum.

Great job! Keep your diet clean and reach for the stars!

train for maintence maybe? or do 2 weeks of cutting?

I know what you mean though.. my quads outgrow my pants before my waist as well.

Personally I am a fan of Lucky Brand Jeans and True Religion.. they seem to be the only ones i found that end up fitting me right
