I have to go at like 8:30 in the evening to have a decent session.

My ideal gym would be basically empty!
This is why I quit 24 hr Fitness three times over. My new gym isn't crowded at peak times, and going in at 530am there are usually less than 5 people in the whole free weight area

Two weeks ago that would have been my answer to this poll.

Recently, I went in and someone ahead of me hadn't wiped down the bench. Wasn't real bad, so I just wiped it down real quick and went on about my business. A while later I had to wipe the sweat off my face and when I did, the towel felt wet and I thought about wiping someone elses cold sweat on my face, and I damned near chucked right there.

Towels are cheap. Takes less than five seconds. No excuse.

See I can't go at 5:30, or else I would. My gym doesn't open until 8am and I need to be on the road to work at 7

You don't get many 24hr gyms over here (UK). I don't know of any near me. Not sure why.

Definitely machine hogging! There's nothing more annoying than having your workout halted by some idiot.

Not putting the weights away. Like when people just leave dumbells laying on the floor.

Something that grinds my gears is when I see someone doing a workout that isn't intense at all.

They are either using a machine or doing curls, and they are lifting so fast and with such little attention to form or intensity that they are not getting any stimulation at all. Its not a matter of them doing low weight or "trying something new". It's like they are at the gym just to be there and say they go, not to actually progress or change...

EDIT: I saw some girl using the "good girl/bad girl" machine, and her legs are just flailing around, theres no resistance, no form, she's looking around the gym, bored, uninterested, you can tell from her face the last thing on her mind is the actual workout.

This, and when weights are not sorted properly. It's like the first time the alphabet met alphageties.

I hate this, and at my old gym a lot of the weights weren't labelled anymore... more than once I'd do a set of DB bench or whatever, look at what's in my hands more closely and realise I've got a 45 in one and a 50 in the other... drove me insane.

YEah that's the same at mine.

And the weights vary in size so you can't even really work out how heavy a dumbell/barbell is by the wieghts that are on it. Annoying

I was at my gym the other day doing my pre lifting cardio, and I saw these 2 girls came in. One got on the cross trainer and started doing some cardio, the other just stood in front of the machine chatting to her. She was dressed for the gym, but she didn't do anything.

I didn't watch them the whole time, but whenever I looked over, it was the same. The one girl doing cardio and the other chatting to her.

Unsurprisingly, the one doing all the cardio was slim and the one doing all the chatting was pretty big. SO yeah, I reckon she was just there to say she was there.

I've developed a genuine disgust for aerosol deodorants. Some locker rooms have a cloud in them. I can't stand when I walk in and I'm breathing that instead of the O2 I need.

Unless you have a thing for icy pits, go easy on the spraying or switch to a stick.

I remember when my gym installed those for the first time, I didn't even notice. I'm in the ab room, doing my weighted crunches, when I hear this squeaky squishy sound...it throws me off. I look around but see nothing...keep doing my crunches, and a few minutes I hear it again! But I have no idea where or from who, by the third time, I think someone is messing with me...

I found out a couple days later what it was...

Well they are these little white cylinder machines that spray perfume/deoderant into the air.

I know they didn't have them before, because I've done ab work in that room for ages and never heard that sound...

I notice the cylinder later on and catch it flash a light and make that squeaky/spray noise while doing some ab work. I felt like a dumbass,

Weird man, just weird. If my gym installed those I'd snap on management, I hate perfume! I don't even wear scented deoderant that's how much I hate perfume!

    Agreed..!

And I swear aerosol propellants make my air passages close... maybe I'm allergic. I think Right Guard is the worst but any aerosol kills me.

Just about everything listed is annoying, but to me the worst is people who stink. Dammit, if you don't know how to shower and put on clean clothes, stay the fuk out of my gym. It's hard to lift when the stench from other people makes me want to hurl. I am tempted to post a sign on the door that says: "If you haven't showered today, you cannot use this gym."
