    Default Need opinion

I'm starting off the new year with a new training routine. I'm 71" tall, 220 pounds and approximately 25% bodyfat, so I'm mainly focused on fat loss. However, I want to continue lifting weights to at least maintain my strength. I'm thinking about the following routine going forward. Tell me if you think it is sufficient/overtraining/etc. All feedback is appreciated from you guys...

Monday - weight training in the evening
Tuesday - cardio in the morning
Wednesday - weight training in the evening
Thursday - cardio in the morning
Friday - weight training in the evening
Saturday - cardio in the morning
    Sunday - off

My BMR calls for 3329, so I'm going to go down to about 2900-3000 to start off with. I'm working on my diet plan right now, but it'll be structured...it has to be!

As long as the weight work outs are not too late - you want some protein after the workout and then to follow it up with a decent meal to feed your body after taxing it like that.
If you can do that - looks good.

Cardio is first thing out of bed in the morning?
If so - don't eat anything beforehand. (Should help burn the fat a lil better to some degree)

Yes, the cardio is first thing in the morning. I'll wake up at 4:30 and be running by 5am.

I hope I'm not working out too late though. I usually lift from 8-9pm and then have a protein shake and simple carbs immediately after. I usually go to bed at 10pm, so I'm not eating that meal like you suggested. Is that going to be a big problem???

Well, my personal opinion is that the body doesn't have all that it needs to refuel itself in regard to vitamins, minerals, fluids and foods that will break down in to all of these things while you sleep.
I would think even a meal of at least 400 calories would be better than just a shake and dextrose.

Baked potato, yogurt, piece of fruit (apple or banana) and hand full of walnuts or peanuts could do it.

Cardio first thing in the morning, low intensity, on an empty stomach will burn fat, and works well, but is longer duration 30+ mins, you can also do it at night and 6 days a week....

Doug, what time is best to do high intensity cardio/hiit to burn the fat, since in the morning it will burn muscle.
