Default Muscle Mass, Abs and Bodyfat

Chasing abs when you are lean without much muscle might require unhealthy weight loss because of the lack of muscularity. Sometimes we like to think that the only part of the equation that matters is fat loss, but muscle mass also plays a very important role.

Here is an example of 2 physiques with 10% (approx) body fat levels:

I've made mention of this a few times myself. I wish I had pictures of my body when I wrestled because I had abdominals that where visible but pertruded like a mini potbelly.

I know a few bodybuilders who can still see some abs at 25%.

"Big & Strong = Heavy Compounds + Progression + Food" this equation has solved many people query to make them fit and get good shape of body but I think someone should describe it in such a way so that anyone can understand the procedure.

Muscularity really plays an important role.

A weak or unbalanced muscles can pull your body out of alignment; balanced strength training (combined with stretching) will help you maintain good posture of course. Although strength training does not burn as many calories as cardiovascular training, it does increase your lean body weight. Increasing lean muscle mass means you burn more calories all day long, boosting your metabolism and helping weight stay off.

Hi Guys, Any of you guys do dragon flags for abs. Started using them when I read some of Bruce Lee's training techniques. Seems to work the serratus pretty well.

I haven't seen my abs - ever!. Got down to 15% BF and obliques looked good but a mispent youth has left me struggling to shift that last bit of podge around my gut. I've decided to have a stab at the Warrior Diet. Any tips?

I haven't had my BF % measured yet, but I'm trying IMF to see if it can help shave off some extra pounds. Yessss I don't need to hear about diet and don't eat bread, or gluten, and all that....I'd just like to hear thoughts on whether or not intermittent fasting is actually a good deal or not?? thoughts?

I do agree with you that making abs is not an easy thing. There are many different exercises that one can use to get abs but all of them are hard work, and most of them are very slow to create noticeable results.

There are two best ways to burn fat and build muscles, the natural way and the medical way. Almost all diet supplements can help but some factors should be considered before deciding to have one. First is, supplement may be good but like any other medicines, it has possible undesirable side effect. Some may interpret it as a permanent alternative but it’s not. Supplements can help you only when you are running out of time to lose weight or if you have to lose weight temporarily. Dependent of the drugs is also expected with the contents it is made of and with the side effect it causes.
