    Question Not meeting requirements

    According to the Calorie calculator,for me to lose weight I need 2254 calories a day. After counting up what I have eaten today I'm 869 cals short.
    I'm worried I'm not eating enough to get my metabolism jump started, I broke up all my meals,and haven't been hungry at all.Todays diet is typically how I eat.
    should I down another protien drink?
    This is what I've had today
    zipfizz 30 cal
    apple 65 cal
    sandwich 600 cal
    salad 160 cal
    small veggies 40 cal
    Chicken wings 200 cal
    protien drink 130 cal
    2 small sticks of stringcheese 160 cal
    Am I close enough or should I try to add even another meal for few hundred calories?

    if you are over 800 calories short, then YES you need to add more or else your body will burn more lean body mass rather than your fat mass. try and fix up 6 small portioned meals with a good balance of proteins, carbs, and fats. a typical meal for me would be something like 5oz chicken, veggies with udo's oil as a dressing to them. or you could do something like a chicken salad using and oil for a dressing... basically, move away from chicken wings as a meal, or 2 sticks of string cheese because this wont get you to your calorie requirement, and if it does, it wont get you there healthy (ie. with the right types of nutrients you need). for some good foods to use in your diet, check out this thread... you will find PLENTY of food to fill the spaces. goodluck getting the diet straight, its by far the most important part in reaching your goal

    Hi mate,
    No where near enough food. 800 cals short is quite a lot. To build muscle you need to be intaking 500 cals more than the figure the calculator gives you and spread the meals over 6 meals a day. A protein shake now and then or straight after your workout is fine but generally good wholesome food from all the food groups is the best source of nutrients.
