    Default Wendler 5/3/1 leg assistance

TL;DR, is front squats a good/viable assistance exercise on squat day.

Hi guys just started wendler 5/3/1, basically the 4 main lifts with 2-3 assistance exercises. The only thing ive ever really done for legs is squats and im struggling to find leg assistance work to do. I have a power cage, barbell etc in my garage so i dont have access to any fancy equipment. I tried lunges and hurt the hell out of my ass to the point i couldnt sit down haha.
Are front squats good for assistance work on a squat day or would it be too much squatting? Ive trained for a while now and burned out twice due to over training so i thought i would ask the thoughts and opinions of people and see if anyone has found doing squat and front squat assistance to be fine.

Yes, Front Squats is most definitely a great assistance lift to do on squat day. I would also suggest an assistance lift such as Good Mornings for the Hamstrings.
My favorite part of lifting is having the opportunity

I'm doing a version from his book where he gives you a primary assistance exercise with percentages and everything. One of those is the front squat, but it's on deadlift day. And the one of squat day is straight legged deadlift. I think it's for symmetry, you might want to try it that way. I also do good mornings but those are as a secondary assistance.
