Currently the only supplement I am taking is Whey Protein.

What other supplements would you guys reccomend?

Creatine and BCAAs? and are these taken pre or post workout?

If so have you guys got any links to the products, must be available to the UK as well.

    Cheers guys

Just wondered if there was a supplwment that would cause my body to use it.

You don't need any supplements. That's why they are called supplements. Can you get your protein requirements covered with whole foods? If so, don't even bother with the whey. I take whey because I am unable to meet protein requirements easily.

As for your second concern, you could try a different brand. That is of course if you actually need to be taking whey in the first place.

There are really some good products out there but I stick to one brand and that's MGN. It gives
me the most for my money they have a great BCAA product called BCAA Extended Performance and
I use it all the time it works really well for me. I would like to add a fish oil too and maybe a multi
start small you don't want to over do it too soon.

You have less money in your pocket. Seriously, in the UK there are a number of cheap protein sources: Bulk Powders, Protein Factory, etc. They are cheaper due to the lack of colourful packaging and advertising. If you really need to supplement with a powder, try them. They even do trial pouches if you don't want to commit to buying a big bag of the stuff. I'd avoid MyProtien for two reasons:

    1. They provide pouches that are supposed to be resealable, but actually aren't after two uses or so.
    2. They will provide you with very short best-before-dates.

I've never had a problem with myprotein, just clear the powder out of the seal when they arrive. As for best before dates, if it takes you more than a year to get through a kg of whey you may need to look elsewhere. Otherwise don't panic.

Powder in the seal isn't the problem. The resealable socket peals away from the bag. Also, concerning best before dates, I often get bags that have two months left on delivery. I'm not too fussed about best before dates, but it's the principal really. I feel like they are conning me. That's why I stopped buying from them.

Where do they sell these? Since tesco stopped selling protein shakes I haven't really bought any. Holland and Barrett's pricing "strategy" really alienates me

Online. Search for 'cheap protein powder'. There are a number of places you can get them from. Often you can get a better deal by buying in bulk. But you may want to buy a few 'trial' packets from a few sources. That way you can determine which powder you prefer.

Bulk Powders and The Protein Factory and the like are good, because they don't spend money on flashy packaging and advertising. It may be wise to check the credentials of the products you source. A lot will provide certification to confirm the quality of their products.

Maybe lactose intolerant or a cheap powder? Try looking for a whey protein Isolate or a lactose free brand like Isopure. Proteins are not all created equal, so check the ingredients and make sure there are no additives, dyes, or fillers.
