    Default Advice please

    Hi everyone

I would like some advice on my situation. 3 years ago I suffered a stroke due to a condition I have of the brain called an Angioma. I would say I have recovered 98% as I still have a very slight weakness in my left arm and leg.
I would like to start back at the gym now my rehabilitation is complete, as I lost a lot of muscle due to being bed and wheel chair bound for a considerable time.
Now I would like to start to gain some mass and rebuild my muscle, my only problem is I have been advised by my doctor not to put any unnecessary strain on the blood vessels to my brain, So I was wondering if anyone had any advice/tips on how to rebuild my muscle in a slow and steady way without my killing myself lol as I have no idea where to begin.

    Thank you in advance

    Kind regards to you all

Build strength back slowly by doing bodyweight exercises. I admire your determination to get back to 100%. I bounced back from something similar in 2005. Start with Push ups, do as many as you can Mon, Wed, Fri and as you get stronger add in Pull ups and Deep knee bends.
Do a full stretch and foam rolling routing before each session. When you can do 5 sets of 20 push ups you will be ready to start weight training. Many people here will help you. Welcome to the forum!

Seek professional medical help. From there, feel free to come back here for more specific training. But medical assistance should be your priority.

Discuss options with your rehab guy and the doctor. Maybe visit a forum where people have this kind of ailment.
I cannot give proper advice bc of the blood flow thing....

I am usually apprehensive about medical advice because they want you to "take it easy" a little too much.

As far as blood flow is concerned, your heart rate goes up with exercise as you may already know. This makes working out hazardous to you, period. Bodyweight, & rehab is pretty much what you've been relegated to until your cleared to resume normal activity. Sorry about your condition!
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strength. When you go through hardship & decide not to surrender, that is strength.
