    Default Over 60

Greetings! I would like to connect with other lifters over 60 years young. I have been lifting for 6 years with periods of inactivity every now and again but have been pretty constant over the past 3 years with time off only due to flu and when on vacation.
I would really like to interact with others (male and female) of my age regarding workouts as those that workout at my home/garage gym are all much younger than I am and so I don't have an accurate reference point as far as 1rm's, volume, frequency, etc. are concerned.

Hi Ridgeback303, good to connect with you. Your 1RM's are pretty impressive considering you've only been lifting for < 6 months!

Thanks Peterk. I just need to keep from any serious injuries either lifting or cycling, and hopefully my performance in both my favorite sports will continue to improve. BTW I see you are from SA. I have Ridgebacks...

I know them well used to have a Ridgeback cross Lab. Used to be called Rhodesian Ridgeback - excellent watchdogs and very good with kids!

Oh they're still called Rhodesian Ridgebacks here in the US too. Mine are mostly RR mixed with something else, but one is probably purebred, and the new guy we are adopting soon is purebred. Great dogs!

    welcome, i'm not far from 60. i've weight-trained on & off over 40 years.
i currently train to pull-on-monday, push-on-thursday. its working good for me.
my goals are to be healthy, strong, fit & pain-free until my life is done. i have a hard time finding like-minded trainers who arent into bulk, BBing & overtraining. dont want to spend too much time in the gym, get in-work hard-leave.
i dont weight-train to have image results. i do it because i enjoy how it makes me feel. there is no timetable for my goal, i have my whole life to train so there is no rush to train. i dont train body parts, movements are more accurate. mainly compounds.

I am 70, but got my muscle working construction for 35 years. I keep it up now with a 30 minute workout. Never lifted weights, except on the job and I got paid for it.
