    Question 13y/o Fitness Q.

Allo, I'm fairly curious about my weight, height, and tone considering I'm a tad bit different than most others and is rather odd.
    I'm 13,
    5ft. 7 1/2in.
    159.5 pounds
    and decent tone.

A lot of my friends average around the 100-120 mark with a fairly skinny tone.

I'm not fat at all which is weird considering all I do is play on the computer and eat. It'd be nice if someone might be able to explain that other than a simple answer such as "metabolism".

I'd also like a good workout plan, and I can't seem to find a decent one.
I want to work on my chest, abdomen, upper back, triceps, biceps, and quadriceps.

    Any ideas?

    what are your goals, specifically?
there are so many variables that comprise body composition.
I'd recommend any of the following novice programs: Starting Strength, StrongLifts, All Pro's Simple Beginner Routine
When choosing a program, you should consider the following: Does the program match my goals? Does the program match my experience level? Be sure to pick a program that you'll enjoy and remain consistent

My goal is to build muscle, keep it, and build muscle endurance. I'll be starting JROTC next year which will help me out a whole lot more.
I want to be able to keep good form, do a lot, and keep being able to do more and keep an all around stable build to keep my in shape for PT.

none of that is specific or measureable
any program comprised of some of the big basic lifts, a sensible progression scheme, some conditioning, and proper nutrition is all that's needed
    good luck

Hi Bluestorm, welcome to the forum and to the world of working out and weight lifting. At the age of 13 you want a routine that comprises of the big compound movements such as squats, deadlifts, Bench Press, Bent-over Rows, Overhead Presses, Pull-ups and Dips. Those will hit the whole body as well as building the Biceps and Triceps. Good luck!

At 13 years old you may be better suited to start with a body weight routine. There are several to be found in the workout tab of this website. When you advance to the lifting - start lighter and add reps..... give iit a year or more before adding any significant weight.

Yup, when my brother was 13y/o, he had a chest expander, one of the old-fashioned ones with 5 steel springs, other than that it was bodyweight exercises all the way; there was nothing else available.

    there's really no reason why a 5'7 150lbs 13 year old can't/shouldn't lift weights
as with any novice lifter, learning proper form is very important
getting stronger with bodyweight only is not a bad place to start, but there's no reason to avoid weight training
