I am 29 years old, and have always been a casual weightlifter. I would take it seriously in the Winter, but when Spring and Summer came around, I would slack off and basically have to start over in the late Fall. The last 5 months or so, however, I have been much more consistent in my weight training, and have seen consistent results. I have been using the 4-Day Muscle/Power/Burn workout for 5 straight months, and each week I am able to add either additional weight or reps. I have not plateaued yet.
I noticed that I am pretty much the same exact weight and body fat percentage now as when I started 5 months ago. I weight 170 pounds, and have not fluctuated more than 2-3 pounds either way. My body fat has stayed between 15-16% the entire time. How is this possible? I am clearly gaining muscle; I can tell in my appearance, and as I mentioned before, I am increasing weights. Should I care about body fat percentage? Should I just keep progressing until I plateau and then switch my workout? I am just confused because I thought that I would be adding muscle and have the body fat go down.
I should also mention that I try to run 10 miles a week. Thanks for your input!
