    Default Gym Work Out Circuit

Soon to turn 42 and recently went from 199 lbs to 180 lbs - dieting, elliptical, and push up / sit up routine over the past 8 months or so. Have not felt this good in 10-15 years! My new goal: Join a gym and see if I can return to college weight of 175 lbs and get some muscle tone as well.

Can you refer a good gym circuit/routine for a 42 year old with little gym experience... maybe a link? There is just sooo much info out there and I'm not really familiar with gyms / machines. Hoping to do the gym 2 days p/week. Elliptical/cardio 4 days p/week.

    Thanks in advance!
    Scott

You could do something like Stronglifts 5x5, though that is best 3x/wk. That would get you started, anyway. It's simple, there's an app for it, and plenty of more advanced routines to choose from after you max out on 5x5.

Yeah fully agree with Ridgeback! Stronglifts 5 x 5 is an excellent starting routine for a beginner but as she points out it needs to done 3 x per week.
