Default Doing bodybuilding and power lifting together?

I am thinking about doing powerlifting and bodybuilding at the same time. Would it work if I did powerlifting for the 3 compound exercises and did bodybuilding for the rest? The reason i m asking this is because I still want to look good, but I am also hoping to hit 4 plate dead lift by this February.

To look good choose bodybuilding, with powerlifting you can be thin but be strong. So its your choice which way you want to go, but not both together

Keep in mind also, that any successful body builder is also very strong. Training as a body builder will allow you to make great increases in strength and size whereas powerlifting training may not provide the size increases. That's why for me, I gear my training towards body building.

How about the 3, 4, or 5 day Power, Muscle, Burn routine?

    Absolutely.

Weight training, whether the goal is ultimate power or quality of physique, should be combined with your ability to accept the restrictions of your individual inherent predisposition.

You could also consider rotating between bodybuilding and powerlifting. Maybe 6 weeks per rotation. That could definitely spice things up as well as shock your body in a positive way to promote gains.

    Hello mate,

I am not sure both will work great at a time or not? But you can try about a month or two. However, you can simply follow healthy self programs for body building. Even myself are trying to follow. And it's working superb for me.

    Hope that help! Thanks!

In the old days, Park, Oliva, and even Schwarzenegger trained hard and lifted heavy, like powerlifters. Today's bodibuilders seems to be more specialized. If you are looking to add size to your frame, combining those two is a great option - you know, all those classic lifts like the squat, row, deadlifts, and bench press + isolation moves

I did this starting around april of last year and along with some supplementation and proper dieting, I gained 20 pounds in 2 months and increased my strength across the boards. I would definitely say to give this a try.

A lot of good bodybuilder started out in powerlifting, depending in your goals is to which one you stay with ,I my self started out in powerlifting because that how you get size from the bench press, squat, deadlift, because they are the bigger muscles, the rule I have kept in my training is keep the power in the power moves and I believe a bigger muscle is a stronger muscle, and that can obtained from a variety in rep range for hypertrophy and a little common sense there no need to go "crazy heavy" on smaller muscle because body building is about size, symmetry, and shape of the muscle as with definition, where power lifting is moving weight from point A to point B, and strength. and the best way I feel to achieve muscle size is progressive overload, I myself train with Power/Muscle/Burn , I like the variety it's provided and it constantly keeping me mentally challenged on goal setting with the reps and with more reps more blood is put into the muscle which cause hypertrophy , so I feel a Arnold, Lee Haney, trained for size with power and rhythm movements that kept the muscle with blood keep the muscle growing.

How many reps are you thinking of doing for powerlifting movements? if its 2-3 reps, I don't think it will be a good idea to do bodybuilding routine straight after because you are going from very extreme intenstiy to volume type training very quick. You wil be tired after power lifting movements.

If you're doing 5 reps for powerlifting movement then you are okay to go to bodybuilding routine straight after. This is how I used to train and it worked for me.

Remember likewise, that any fruitful jock is additionally extremely solid. Preparing as a jock will enable you to make extraordinary increments in quality and size while best elbow braces powerlifting preparing may not give the size increments. That is the reason for me, I adapt my preparation towards weight training.
