Hey, first of all, do you really need it? Are you morbidly obese? Because weight loss surgery is considered as a last solution and unless you really medically need it, no doctor will endanger your life. It is quite a complex surgery where they cut a part of your stomach and saw it back, you will need recovery, constand diet and discipline, it's not magic, if you have the surgery doesn't mean you can eat everything and wil not gain again. What other health problems do you have?
I think the best thing is to book an appointment with the doctor.

Yes, you will need to consult with a doctor as you probably won't find good advice on a forum regarding this topic.

Also, this is a big decision. I agree with joydalia, consider strongly whether you really need it, and then consult with a doctor.

    Hi Mary
Thanks for the questions. I will try to answer the first question. Hope other contributors will help you get the answer to questions 2, 3, and 4.
First, weight loss surgery is a process via which the surgeon makes changes to both the stomach and intestine. It is done in four ways:
Removing part of the stomach that leaves a very small portion of the stomach called pouch. Since the pouch cannot hold a lot of food, you eat less.
Adjusting the gastric band- the surgeon puts a small band around the upper part of the stomach. It helps to limit the amount of food you eat.
Gastric Sleeve- it is a surgery that removes the stomach leaving only a narrow section of the upper stomach. It aims at curbing hunger hormones and makes one eat less.
Duodenal switch- the surgery removes the stomach and entails using a gastric sleeve to bypass small intestine. It limits the amount of food you eat and limits the number of nutrients absorbed from the food you eat.

    Hi there!

I would never do the surgery.

My advice is to be physically very active, doing things that keep your mind busy and focused on things that really interest you.

Don't starve yourself, but also don't take second helpings at lunch time.

One thing that really works is to stop taking any sugar. stay away from anything sweet. Even artificial sweeteners. Drink water when you are thirsty and never eat or drink stuff while you are walking.

For physical exercise just walk, but try to walk on uneven surfaces so you have to concentrate on what you are doing every step of the way. It will keep your brain from going into automatic and you will soon see that your weight starts to go down. Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. We lose fat through our breath!! (Fact)

    Don't give up!

    Enjoy your day!

Yes weight loss surgery is real and will help you lose weight. This is critical when you want to lower you BMW and avoid problems associated with obesity. We have many types of weight loss surgery but the most common ones are restrictive and malabsorption surgery. In the restrictive surgery, the small intestine is cut so as to reduce the distance and reduce the calories and nutrients that can be absorbed. Also, the amount of food you eat is restricted. Let me stop here and allow other contributors to talk about the benefits and risks.
