Default Too fat for ab workouts.

So I have been trying to really start working on my abs, but I am having a REAL problem with doing anything such as sit ups, crunches of any kind, leg lifts or the like, since my gut gets in the way and I end up never really being able to work the ab muscles them self.

Now I am NOT talking about spot reduction, but actual working of a muscle group.

Has anyone else had this problem before and if so what did you do?

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Just start slow, if you really want it, there's no such thing as I Can't.
It is the most difficult part to sculpt but do it step by step and most importantly, don't forget that 80% is the diet.

Begin with posterior pelvic tilts and McGill curl-ups (Google them). And keep in mind that leg raises and crunches are not particularly functional ab movements. The role of the abs is to resist flexion and rotation, not perform sit-up type movements (that’s a secondary function). Lastly, hopefully your biggest focus right now is fat loss.
Donít chase the 1%, there is no magic training routine or diet thatís going to provide any measurable results over the basic principles for getting huge and strong: Train heavy, eat and sleep more.
