I been using Eset for a few years and it uses very little system resources and caught a few unauthorized access attempts and files. I am watching this https://antivirus-review.com rating now, there are better antiviruses even.

I use antivirus protection only when I open unknown dubious sites. For example, when I play at https://mr.bet/casino/type/slot casino, I also use antivirus. Maybe it is not necessary. But I like the complete protection.
