    Read in Mens Health magazine ( Dec edition) that eating Barley for breakfast would cut down raise in insulin by 44% at lunch and upto 25% at dinner. What it means is that your body wouldn't be converting the carbs into fat as fast as if you didn't eat Barley.

    The reason is the soluble fiber in Barley takes many hours to digest.

    Now, anyone has good suggestions for tasty Barley recipes for breakfast?

    Actually it is your diet in general that is going to assist you in losing weight. The supplement is just an add on. And I would say there is no specific protein/carb supplement that will help you lose weight. It is hard to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. You need to focus on one and then do the other after that, in cycles.

    But I believe you are referring to a protein powder in your question.

    If so then you could try soy protein powder. I know that ON (Optimum Nutrition) has soy protein powder.

    As for carbs, you could get some waxy maize or dextrose but this would mainly help for gaining muscle. It would be used post workout along with your protein shake. There are many articles on waxy maize and dextrose throughout the forum. Just use the search tab and you will find a lot of info.

    Protein Cookie

    50g of oat bran or rolled oats (depending on your preference)
    30g of your choice of protein powder, preferably chocolate flavoured
    2 egg whites
    25g crushed up almonds
    A tiny touch of vanilla essence

    First put egg whites into small bowl and then add in the vanilla essence
    then add all of your dry ingredients and simply with a spoon stir all of the ingredients together until good consistancy

    Oven at 180 degrees celcius fan forced

    Using a tea spoon, get a heap of the mixture onto the teaspoon and place it on a tray

    Bake for 5 minutes

    Makes around 6-7

    In the total mixture
    P= 43 C= 40 F= 17

    Each cookie has around
    P= 6-7 C= 5.5-6 F= 2.5-3

    If you want nearly no fat in your cookies take away the almonds
    If you want to increase the protein add more protein powder
    If you want to add more carbs add honey or even mixed berries

    Not necessarily 18 year olds, the original poster as well as others assume new lifters, who are usually around 18y are inexperienced with nutrition hence the provision for a few guidelines.

    Donít chase the 1%, there is no magic training routine or diet thatís going to provide any measurable results over the basic principles for getting huge and strong: Train heavy, eat and sleep more.

    Haha do u think my dad is smart:
    "Whey protein will harm u more than it will help. Its a lie that it promotes muscle growth some bodybuilder or scientist said it to make money one day and it stuck"

    OR my mum:
    She sees a protein tub: "is that steroids?!!!!!!" And then goes very hysterical.

    Im not trying to make fun of them or anything because i know they want all the best for me but sometimes i would just like them to do some research before saying something ridiculous.

    P.S I still have to hide my protein from them.
